Lot tracking allows you to track inventory by specific lot numbers, which is especially important for products with expiration dates, compliance requirements, or batch-level traceability (e.g. cosmetics, supplements, and health products).
By default, lot tracking is not enabled for all products. You must manually enable this setting for each SKU that requires lot control.
Before You Begin
Lot tracking must be enabled on your account by the ShipTop team
If you’re unsure whether it’s enabled, please contact ShipTop Support
How to Enable Lot Tracking
You can enable lot tracking in two ways:
Option 1: Single SKU (Product Details Page)
Search for and select the SKU you want to update
Within the individual product page, click the Edit (pencil icon)
Enable Needs Lot Tracking
Click Save
Option 2: Bulk Edit (Multiple SKUs)
Navigate to the Products page
Use the Bulk Edit button
Select the SKUs you want to update
Enable Needs Lot Tracking
Apply and save your changes
Important Notes & Limitations
Lot tracking must be enabled per SKU — it is not applied globally
Do not enable lot tracking for Kit SKUs
Lot tracking should be managed at the component (individual SKU) level
Enabling lot tracking on a Kit SKU may cause inventory syncing issues with your sales channels
Lot tracking settings cannot be updated via CSV upload at this time
