Serial Number Report

Written by ShipTop

The Serial Number Report allows you to track the serial numbers of products that have been shipped from your ShipTop warehouse.

Once a serial number is captured during the packing process and the order has shipped, it is recorded in the report. This makes it easy to identify which serial number was shipped with a specific order and when it was fulfilled.

Accessing the Serial Number Report

  1. Navigate to Reports.

  2. Select Serial Numbers.

What the Report Shows

Each row in the report represents a single serial number that has been recorded for a shipped product.

The report may include information such as:

  • Serial Number

  • SKU

  • Product Name

  • Order Number

  • Customer

  • Store

  • Warehouse

  • Shipment Date

  • Tracking Number

You can customize which columns are displayed using the Columns menu in the report.

Available Filters

Use the filters at the top of the report to quickly locate a specific shipment or serial number.

Available filters include:

  • Search (SKU, Product Name, Order Number, or Serial Number)

  • Date Range

  • Warehouse

  • Store

These filters make it easy to investigate warranty claims, product recalls, or customer inquiries.

Common Uses

The Serial Number Report is commonly used to:

  • Verify which serial number was shipped to a customer.

  • Locate the order associated with a specific serial number.

  • Support warranty claims.

  • Assist with product recalls.

  • Audit serialized inventory shipments.

  • Confirm serial numbers captured during fulfillment.

How Serial Numbers Are Recorded

Serial numbers are recorded during the packing process.

If a product is configured to require a serial number, the packer will be prompted to scan or manually enter the serial number before the shipment can be completed. Once the shipping label is created, the serial number is permanently associated with that shipment and becomes available in the Serial Number Report.

Good to Know

  • Only products configured to require serial numbers will appear in this report.

  • Serial numbers are recorded only after the order has been packed and shipped.

  • Historical serial number records remain available even if serial number tracking is later disabled for the product.

Exporting the Report

Click Export to download the report as a CSV file.

The exported file can be opened in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for warranty tracking, audits, or customer support.
