How to Create a Pickup Order

Learn how to create and configure pickup orders in the Client Portal to ensure they are prepared and ready for collection at a ShipTop warehouse.

Written by ShipTop

Pickup orders allow you or your customer to collect inventory directly from a ShipTop warehouse instead of shipping via a carrier.

To ensure your order is prepared correctly and on time, follow the steps below.

How It Works

Pickup orders follow a different workflow than standard fulfillment.
They must be configured correctly to ensure the warehouse team prepares and stages the order for collection.

Step 1: Create the Order

  1. Log in to your Client Portal

  2. Create a new order as you normally would

  3. Enter the ShipTop warehouse address where the order will be picked up

Ensure the ShipTop pickup warehouse address is entered as the shipping address.

Step 2: Set the Shipping Method

After creating the order:

  1. Update the shipping method to:
    Generic Label β†’ Generic Label

This ensures the order is treated as a pickup order, not a carrier shipment.

Step 3: Toggle Wholesale & Update Profile

Enable the Wholesale toggle and update the order profile accordingly.

This ensures the order follows the wholesale / pickup workflow rather than the standard pick and pack process.

Step 4: Add Pickup Instructions

In the Warehouse Packer Notes section, include clear pickup details.

Example:
Client picking up August 5th @ 12:00 PM

Be as specific as possible with the date and time.

Step 5: Submit at Least 24 Hours in Advance

All pickup orders must be submitted at least 24 hours before the scheduled pickup time.

This allows the warehouse team to:

  • Prepare the order

  • Stage it for pickup

  • Ensure accuracy

Step 6: Notify the ShipTop Team

After creating the order, email [email protected] with:

  • Order number

  • Confirmation that the order is for pickup

  • Requested pickup date and time

This ensures the warehouse team is aware and prepared ahead of arrival.

Important Notes

  • Pickup orders must use Generic Label β†’ Generic Label

  • Orders without proper notes or notification may not be ready on time

  • Pickup orders follow a different operational workflow than standard shipments

  • Always include clear and complete pickup details
